It’s possible to update The Sims 3 manually. On this page you can find the official EA links for The Sims 3.

What's my gameversion?
The version of your game can be found for each game separately in:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 (or any other game of which you’d like to know the version)\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt

The Game Version can be found in the text after “GameVersion =”

Note: it’s recommended to always back-up your game files before you install a patch. In the unlikely event something goes wrong, you can always restore your old game files when you reinstall the game.
Do not install patch 1.31, 1.32 or 1.33 before patch 1.29 has been executed seperately. The cumulative patch 1.34 and more recent patches can be executed right away regardless of what the current gameversion is.
