The Sims 3 Supernatural Lessons

On this page you can find the Sims 3 Supernatural Lessons.

Alchemy skill

Your Sim can use an Alchemy Station to build the new Alchemy skill and brew powerful elixirs. There are a number of different elixirs to create that will do things like boost a Sim’s energy or turn a Sim into a zombie.

To mix an elixir, you’ll first have to learn the recipe. You can learn a number of recipes simply by researching on the Alchemy Station. Other recipes can be bought at the Elixir Shop.

Once your Sim had learned a recipe, they’ll have to gather the ingredients to make it. Some ingredients can be purchased at the Elixir Shop, but others will have to be found in the world.

The new Collection Journal in your Sim’s inventory will allow you to see what collectibles are available in the world. It will also help you keep track of the collectibles you’ve found.

Creating an elixir will use up the ingredients, but when it’s finished, you’ll have an elixir that you can use in your game or send to a friend!

Fairy

Fairies are mystical and whimsical Sims that adore nature. Fairies can further enhance their powers by choosing to help others around them via their Auras or by playing Fairy Tricks on unsuspecting Sims. Keep in mind, there is a cost to every Fairy ability that is used! Fairies must be careful in managing their Magic Power Meter: if too much is spent at once, their powers will wane, and they will be unable to use some of their skills.

While Fairies can use their powers to affect other Sims, they are sole innately skilled in the arts, such as painting, sculpting, gardening, singing, dancing, and musical instruments. Furthermore, Fairies are experts at manipulating and communing with nature which allows them to draw on their powers of the forest to encourage plants to grow.

The Aura of Soothing provides a calming wave to the Fairy and those nearby with a mood boost as well as rapidly alleviating any stress they may have.

The Aura of Body and Mind helps focus the Fairy and other Sims within a set proximity by increasing their skill gains in Atheletics, Logic, Charisma, Handiness, and Martial Arts.

The Aura of Creativity inspires and emanates from the Fairy to surrounding Sims increasing their skill gains in painting, writing, guitar, piano, drums, bass and cooking.

Fairy Auras will continuously draw upon the Fairy’s Magic while active which can be seen in the Magic Power Meter. The Magic Power Meter regenerates slowly over time, but Fairies can also replenish it faster by performing tasks in a Fairy House or by goging for a ride on the Train Set. For a quick pick-me-up, try an Essence of Magic elixir. Fairy Auras will also stack, so be sure to invite all of your Fairy friends to your next shindig!

Once a Fairy has earned enough Lifetime Happiness, they can seize this opportunity and become King of Queen of the Fae. With this newly acquired reward, the Fairy can summon other members of their troop while also having the option to manipulate their wing shape and color.

Witch

Witches are magical creatures able to harness arcane powers to do their bidding. Some Witch abilities are innate and can even be present in childhood. However, to completely focus their talents, every Witch needs a wand. The teenage years are when a Witch’s powers really manifest, and they can start using their wand to play with magic.

Every Witch is given a basic magic wand, but if your Sims loses their wand or wants a better wand, several options are available for purchase in Buy Mode. Each wand helps spellcasting success and efficiency different amounts.

Witches will become increasingly proficient and learn more magic spells and abilities as they play with magic and casts spells. You will get messages when your Witch has learned new spells with hints for how to use them. Casting spells and duelling with other Witches are great ways to become a better spellcaster.

Spells come in a wide variety, from charming someone with a lucky day to cursing the neighborhood with a plague of pestilence! Witches can perform rituals to alter objects around them or harness the elements to blast Sims and objects with fire and ice. Nice witches cast helpful charms on other Sims, while naughty witches torment them with pesky curses.

Every magic spell and ability has a cost. The Magic Power Meter is a useful tool for seeing how much magic a Witch has available. If a witch has too little magic, their powers will start to wane. To speed regeneration of Magic Power, Witches can take a lap around the Broom Arena, or use the Essence of Magic elixir.

For the Witch who doesn’t want to be bound to a magic wand, Magic Hands is a great Lifetime Reward. Witches with Magic Hands don’t need wands, and their spells never fail!

Elixir Consignment Store

The local elixir shop is a great place for entrepreneurial Alchemists to sell their elixirs. Sims can also find ingredients for Alchemy and various elixirs for sale in the shop.

If you’re looking to buy a specific ingredient or elixir at the shop, check back often. The elixir shop only has one of each item listed for sale at a given time, but over time, the shop will have new and different items in stock.

If you’re interested in selling your elixirs, bring the elixirs you want to sell to the elixir shop. While shopping select the ‘Consign’ tab.

If your items sells, your Sim will receive payment for the goods. Items that don’t sell will be sent back in the mail.

The value of your items will decrease over time. The quicker they sell, the more profit you can earn. For quicker sales, try selling your elixirs during a Full Moon!

Lunar Cycle

If you’re seeing some spooky stuff happening in your town, that might be because it’s a Full Moon. Werewolves, zombies, and ghosts are all more prevalent during the Full Moon, and the Full Moon had a number of other unusual effects on the town and the various supernatural Sims.

You can always tell the current phase of the moon by looking at the Moon Icon. If you hover over the Moon Icon, it will tell you the current phase and the number of days until the next Full Moon.

You can control the lunar cycle in your town. By default, the moon will rotate through the different phases of the lunar cycle. In the Options Menu, you can set the frequency of these phases or set the moon to always be one phase.

Werewolf Transformation

Werewolf Sims are in a constant battle to control their inner beast, especially when they’re first getting used to their Werewolf nature. When their mood becomes too low, or when the full moon rises in the night sky, a forced transformation will be inevitable.

While there are obvious drawbacks to being a Werewolf, such as uncontrollable furniture scratching urges and bad table manners, there are also some perks. For example, Werewolves have the ability to hunt for collectibles throughout the world. This can come in very handy when trying to find rare ingredients for alchemy recipes.

As Werewolves become more comfortable with their primal nature, not only will they gain more control over forced transformations; they’ll also gain additional abilities. Eventually, Werewolves hunting alone or in packs will be able to search for specific collectibles: gems, metals, or insects. They’ll also gain the ability to selectively turn other Sims into Werewolves via the Cursed Bite.

Of course, every Werewolf wants to be the leader of the pack. After earning enough Lifetime Happiness Points, this goal can be achieved with the Alpha Wolf Lifetime Reward. Once this is acquired, the Werewolf becomes an unstoppable force, able to turn any human Sim into a Werewolf and strike fear into the hearts of all Sims in range of their new Terrifying Howl.
